Axon Enterprise in Talks to Acquire AI 911 Startup Prepared for Up to $900 Million
Axon Enterprise (AXON), the Maker of police body cameras and Taser devices, is negotiating an acquisition of Prepared, a startup specializing in AI-powered emergency response software. The deal, valued between $800 million and $900 million, underscores Axon's strategic push into artificial intelligence for public safety. Shares of Axon have surged 26% this year, buoyed by investor confidence in its AI integration capabilities.
Prepared, founded in 2019 by Yale alumni, has raised $130 million from top-tier venture firms including Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst. Despite modest current revenue, the startup projects monthly sales of $2.5 million by year-end. Its technology transforms 911 call transcripts into dispatcher notes and offers real-time translation across 100+ languages—a critical capability for modern emergency services.
